Ground has broken on the first American building by London-based architect David Adjaye. The Museum of Contemporary Art / Denver will stand in quiet contrast to Libeskind’s explosive addition to the Denver Art Museum. Adjaye – with his sensitivity to context and material – is just as much artist as architect, and he brings that sensibility to his design. His grey-glass clad building will wash the interior with a soft light, emphasizing the internal gallery experience over radical exterior formalism that may detract from the actual viewing experience.
