Disappointed that the future promised by those grainy 1950’s infomerical-ish documentaries hasn’t yet arrived? Well, The Vitra Design Museum wants to help bring that retro-future a little closer with their Open House: Intelligent Living by Design exhibition. The travelling exhibition displays work by 16 International Architects who have integrated new communication technologies and smart materials into their designs. Mass Studies (pictured), for instance, use a geo-textile facade in their response to the World’s growing population. Other architects’ innovations include fuel-cell roofs, body-scanning showers, and, uh…mood lighting. Perhaps most compelling though, is the fact that all these projects were designed to be feasible within 25 years.
