A Sad Day for London

Last week, an incredible opportunity was lost when Peter Bishop was appointed design director of London. I was really hoping that the job would go to Will Alsop, under whose direction London would surely have set truly innovative design and planning precedents for the rest of Europe. Perhaps Piers Gough said it best in the reporting article from BD: “However idiosyncratic Will is, [appointing him] would have been a stonking move. It would have showed London in a fantastic light here and abroad.”

Assuming “stonking” means something along the lines of “forward-thinking and incredibly wise,” I couldn’t agree more. Instead, it looks like we’ll just be getting more of the same…
